The Essex Base Ball Organization of Newbury, MA and Dirigo Base Ball Club of August, ME are happy to announce the first of what we hope will become an annual New England Vintage Base Ball Festival on June 25th and 26th at the Agricultural Fairgrounds in beautiful Cornish Maine. Six teams from all over the East Coast will travel up to Cornish Maine to play base ball (two words in the 19th century) according 1864 rules, using lemon peel baseballs, wooden bats, and period uniforms. We are in the process of looking for vendors, sponsors, and exhibitors to create an event that the people of New England will be proud of. We hope to create an event that will raise awareness of the history of the game and specifically the history of baseball in New England, one which will bring people to Cornish and the Southern Maine and NH area, and entertain the crowd.
